Iron Chests

Iron Chests is a mod initially created by lishid, then rewritten and currently maintained by cpw. Despite the name, this mod adds a variety of new chests to the game in addition to iron chests, all superior to vanilla chests in that they have more capacity and can be placed next to each other. However, they are single chests only and cannot be combined to create double chests.

Note: These chests are not impervious to creeper explosions.

Note: As of 3.1.1, there is a bug where the Iron Chest Mod's recipes do not show in NEI.

Most Efficient Crafting[]

There are many ways to craft the higher tier chests. These are the most efficient by EMC value.

Iron - Wood > Copper > Iron (1772 EMC)

Silver - Wood > Copper > Iron > Silver (3824)

Gold - Wood > Copper > Iron > Silver > Gold (12020 EMC)

Diamond - Wood > Copper > Iron> Silver > Diamond (28405 EMC)

These are all less than the chests' EMC value, so an infinite source of EMC could be made by converting chests into their components and making more chests to be broken down. However, macerating Blaze Rods is more effective.

Chest Upgrades[]

In addition to crafting chests using their respective recipes, chest upgrades can also be made. The advantage to a chest upgrade is that you do not need to break a chest (spewing items everywhere) and then place a new one. To use a chest upgrade, right click the chest while holding the upgrade.

NOTE: Using the handheld upgrade on a double vanilla chest may crash your game.

Copper Chest[]

The Copper Chest has an extra 18 slots compared to a Wooden Chest.
